Urban Foods Outreach
You've heard the rumors--UFO sites all over Fort Collins, a full-on invasion!
Today, TGP has five Urban Foods Outreach (UFO) sites and hosts. These are comprised of residential yards throughout Fort Collins that are being transformed into Giving Gardens. Garden Hosts, with support from The Growing Project, are growing the good stuff all over town to give to fellow believers and followers with the agreement of donating any extra produce to people and families in need.
With the assistance of our permaculture designers and volunteers, UFO hosts are educated and provided the tools they need for gardening and soil preparation, plant identification, watering needs, design and implementation, and the harvesting of the garden. Throughout the growing season there are weekly volunteer times at each UFO site and regular donations of extra produce to non-profits such as the Food Bank for Larimer County.
