THE GROWING PROJECT EDUCATIONAL GARDEN IS MOVING!
For the past ten years The Growing Project has been an ever changing and growing nonprofit, taking root in different neighborhoods, backyards, and farms of Fort Collins, Colorado. As a small, grassroots organization, our financial limitations have required us to rely on the kindness and generosity of our community to provide spaces for us to grow food and educate the public about growing their own. We have spread our roots around Fort Collins, creating meaningful and lasting connections, building community gardens both big and small, and giving away the delicious garden bounty to anyone and everyone.
As we have grown as an organization, we have searched for a permanent place to call home, to stretch our roots, to grow as much food as possible, and to provide educational opportunities to all that want to learn. We have moved from farm to farm, building soil and germinating seeds. Those seeds sprout, grow, produce food, and die, returning to the soil and demonstrating the most bittersweet cycle of wonder that makes us remember how we are part of nature, not separate from it.
And as the wind blows strong and spreads seeds with every mighty gust, The Growing Project is also being carried to a new farm this season. We wave goodbye to Hope Farms, our home base garden for the past two years, and land in a new space.
Not far from where we spent our last two years, we find ourselves at an unknown yet familiar place called The Burrow, ready to break ground and build it up. With a beautiful clear slate and welcoming and community-minded landlords, we can’t contain our excitement for what is new. We find NEW hope in the seeds we have yet to spread, the youth we have yet to teach, the community meals we have yet to have, and the friends we have yet to make.
We look forward to sowing seeds with you.
