Garden Time is a Horticultural Therapy program focused on instilling vocational skills, health, and social responsibility in its youth participants. We are partnering with various organization to work with at-risk/disadvantaged youth in the Fort Collins community, in order to impact the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of our city.
Currently The Growing Project is partnered with The Boys and Girls Club and The Family Center/La Familia to lead at-risk/disadvantaged youth in our Horticulture Therapy program. The focus of Garden Time is knowledge of horticulture, organic gardening, and nutrition through teaching plant parts and their functions on the plant, including their function as food. Participants engage in hands-on environmental education, learn sustainable life skills, and experience increased psychosocial well-being.
