Thanks to board member Mike O'Brian, the Gleam Team lives on another season! It was threatened with extinction this year due to a lack of a coordinator, which meant that potentially thousands of pounds of beautiful produce would be left to rot in the fields.
The Glean Team provides a valuable service to both our community as well as local farms, going out to farms at a moment's notice to harvest often hundreds of pounds of veggies and fruit that would otherwise go to waste due to things like hail storms, etc. In 2010, the Glean Team was responsible for rescuing 4,242 pounds of fresh produce and delivering it to the Food Bank!!
We need massive volunteer power to rescue all this produce before it goes bad...Mike can't do it on his own! If you're interested in being part of the Glean Team, check out our Glean Team page for more info!
